At the district level there is a GT Advisory Council which meets monthly. Powell has assigned Parent Representatives, but all parents are welcome to attend. Topics of discussion include the latest GT research, interesting programs happening around the district, and other district news. This year, that council sponsored a class for GT parents which educated participants about both social and academic needs of gifted children. At Powell we are establishing a quarterly "Parent Coffee," where parents can come, mingle, and discuss the latest topics regarding GT education. Our first meeting will be in December of 2009.
